RYA, NCBA & MCA Training
The 'Art' of Skippering the Original 'Pairs' of boats
(One with an engine and one without) is a dying skill and we hope to rejuvenate
the canal system with sustainable, low emission, carriage of freight. The
system has been in place for over 200 years, but is now almost lost to
commercial carrying.
By training Skippers in 'The old ways' we hope, in the
non-to distant future, to be able to tender for haulage contracts with a fleet
of boats, and expand the business to specialise in the water borne distribution
of non perishable goods.
Fewer lorries on the road would certainly help reduce our carbon footprint.
BES Ltd have facilities in place to provide skipper training
for commercial work or leisure.
RYA
From basic boat handling skills to the Royal Yachting
Association, Inland Waters Helmsman’s qualification, RYA training is thorough
and professional. We have a selection of craft available, or if suitable, you
can use your own boat.
NCBA
The National Community Boat Association qualifications are
aimed jointly at youth groups and group leaders. The boat management courses
are designed for leaders of youth groups or anyone classed as ‘at risk’. This
is a British Waterways and Government approved training course. BES Ltd is
pleased to be able to offer a wide range of courses on a variety of vessels.

In partnership with one of our
senior skippers, we are pleased to be able to offer training for, and the
examination of, the Maritime & Coastguard Agency commercial tier 2
BoatMasters licence. Please contact us for further details.
